Subject: More On A Forgotten Hero Of Bengal Tiger, Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee

Thanks Dhaneshda for reminding us about this famous son of Bengal. Not many know that it was also Sir Ashutosh who appointed Nobel Laureate Physicist C.V.RAMAN as the Professor of Physics in the Calcutta University, when he was only twenty-one or twenty two years in age. At Sir Ashutosh’s behest CV RAMAN also started the Indian Asssoication of Cultivation of Science at Calcutta, which was the start point of research into physics. This was the uncanny ability of Sir Ashutosh to recognise the genius in Raman.

Mihir
