VIJAYAWADA: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Swarna Jayanthi Mahostava Samiti, Poorvandra, will organise Shobha Yatra programmes in all its 10,000 branches across the country on August 17 and 18 to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of VHP.
Addressing a press conference here Monday, VHP international joint general secretary Y Raghavulu said, “VHP had completed 50 years of its formation in 1964 and we are organising various programmes from Krishnashtami on Aug 17, to protect the Hindu culture.”
VHP would organise the Dadhichi blood camp to collect 1 lakh units of blood on Nov 2. The ‘Zilla Sammelanam’ programme would be conducted in 10,000 districts from December 2014 to February 2015 and in the months of June and July a programme named ‘Vruksharopana’ would be organised for the protection of environment.
He said that every year eight lakh Hindus were embracing other religions and thanks to the efforts of VHP, 15 lakh people were reconverted. Besides, around 40 lakh people were prevented from converting to other religions.
“Around 25 lakh members of VHP had organised 65 programmes across the country and the Parishad will organise more service programmes to promote and protect the Hindu culture” he added. VHP president K Harinadh Reddy, secretary M Hanumantha Rao, JDV Prasad Rao, V Venkateswarlu and others participated.
