AGRA: Barely a fortnight after BJP MP Hukum Singh issued lists of families who he claimed had left Kairana and Kandhla areas of Shamli district due to “fear of persecution”, Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Thursday submitted a list of 354 families of AGRA to the district magistrate here, claiming that they have all migrated after receiving “threat from Muslims”.
VHP, which had embarked upon an exercise to conduct surveys in nine localities of mixed population to assess “migrations” of Hindu families across Agra, claimed that in the past decade, not a single family of Muslims has left the locality while hundreds of Hindus have.
In the survey report, submitted to DM Pankaj Kumar, the VHP claimed, “Muslim men purchase houses of Hindu families on higher rates and they start harassing their Hindu neighbours once their population in the area increases.”
DM Kumar said, “We have received the list from VHP and will investigate into their claims.”
As per the list, 19 families from Chamcham Gali also known as Gudiri Mansur Khan, seven families from Katra Khankhana, 24 families from Topkhana Chota Galibpura, 28 families from Paatiram Gali, 47 from Koripada, Chillipada and Kulahi, 51 families from Jatpura, 15 families from Khatipada, 143 families from Billochpura and 18 families from Mantola have “left”.
