Dear Friends,
Among grave injustices in the world at present, in this age of kali, perhaps most cruel is denial of right to live for an unborn child who cannot protest nor demonstrate in streets like the crowds of those clamoring for women rights , mostly against newly elected President Donald J Trump.
One wishes the protesters also show at least some outrage at abortions that are taking place at industrial scale especially in US where Supreme Court passed a law called Row vs Wade. Don’t the foetus, helpless and could not protest have no rights ? But same ladies who are now on streets some of them calling for blowing up of White House are the same ones who clamor for right of abortion where even life let alone liberty for the unborn gets denied.
As you know we are told , actually brainwashed in India by missionaries and their produce ardently engaged in condemnation of Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma as superstitious while the West as scientific .
While Sanatan Dharma holds firmly the view that the soul present in all beings is qualitatively same. But the scientific west recognized no such thing, instead held the view for quiet a long time , that blacks do not have soul, hence they can be enslaved , more over they were also considered inferior . Please see the debates between Douglas – Lincoln debates in this regard, how ably Abe Lincoln argues the case for freedom and liberty of Blacks. If indeed he said, they are less endowed with intelligence and inferior, then should we also deprive them of freedom ?
It is not that the US Supreme Court considered in 1857 the matter of soul, but nevertheless it did uphold slavery in the Dred Scott decision.
Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. 393 (1857), also known simply as the Dred Scott case, was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court on US labor law and constitutional law. It held that “a negro, whose ancestors were imported into [the U.S.], and sold as slaves”,[2][3] whether enslaved or free, could not be an American citizen and therefore had no standing to sue in federal court,[4][5] and that the federal government had no power to regulate slavery in the federal territories acquired after the creation of the United States. Dred Scott, an enslaved man of “the negro African race”[6] who had been taken by his owners to free states and territories, attempted to sue for his freedom. In a 7–2 decision written by Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, the court denied Scott’s request.
Even more egregious is the view that life begins only after birth, hence even abortions of full term babies are not only approved but are funded by federal govt.
In contrast not so scientific Hinduism aka Sanatana Dharma holds the view life begins right at conception when the two cells,of male and female merge. So Manu Dharma says count the age of any person not just from birth but add to it the time in the womb as well .
It is not that conservatives , those who oppose abortions have studied Manu Dharma Sastra, or for that matter Abraham Lincoln was aware of Advaita Philosophy of our Sanatana Dharma, but truth being same, usually since basic humaneness of any human being sooner or later will triumph every where and any where . Asatoma Sadgamaya.
It is good to note therefore along with rejection of slavery in all its forms in US though it took more than a century to do so after words that ‘all men are created equal’ appeared in its constitution, at least some preliminary steps are being taken with regards to curtailing abortions thereby give right to life to most helpless of all
Donald Trump reinstates ‘Mexico City Policy’, banning international abortion funding
President Donald Trump reinstated the “Mexico City policy” on Monday, issuing an executive orderbarring foreign aid or federal funding for international nongovernmental organizations that promote or provide abortions.
“The United States will end the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortion overseas, along with coercive abortions and sterilization practices,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said in the White House press briefing Monday, explaining the move.
The policy is also known as the “global gag rule;” it has been instituted by every Republican president since Ronald Reagan, and correspondingly rescinded by all Democratic presidents.
