To protect Hinduism and Hindu culture, seers to enter electoral fray

As many as 12 seers of different maths and institutions would contest the upcoming general elections, said Pranavananda swami, president of the Bharat Kranti Sena.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, the seer said a decision on this matter (entry of religious heads into the electoral fray) was taken at a meeting held here recently. Defending the move, the seer said that the math heads, after debating the issue, had come to the conclusion that seers should enter Parliament and raise their voices to protect Hinduism and Hindu culture.

Replying to a query, he said they would support BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The seers have asked Mr. Modi and the BJP to consider issuing the ticket to seers. They are awaiting the party’s response. If the seers win the elections, they would support Mr. Modi in forming the government.

The seer added they had also urged BJP leaders to issue the party ticket to Sri Rama Sene leader Pramod Muthalik to contest from Dharwad constituency, which is represented by BJP State president Pralhad Joshi. The Bharat Kranti Sena would support Mr. Muthalik if he contests, he said.
