Dear Ekalites,
It has been a great honor and privilege to serve as the President of Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA from Jan 2014 until Dec 2017. The last four years at Ekal are marked by remarkable growth both in terms of fundraising and in the projects undertaken to make an impact on rural development. In these four years, Ekal USA has raised over $26 million. This has contributed to the expansion of Ekal schools to nearly 59,000 villages. This year, for the first time, Ekal held a Gala in Cipriani Wall St, that helped enhance the branding and collections for Ekal.
Ekal USA helped launch the first Ekal on Wheels, a Mobile Computer Lab that travels to rural areas to bring digital literacy to the villages. The support for Ekal on Wheels has expanded and we now have 11 of them in action. Gramothan or Village Development has also gained impetus with support from Ekal USA and has yielded outstanding results providing sustained income opportunities to many.
All this would not have been possible without the guidance, support and involvement of dedicated volunteers, donors and ground staff across India. They held various programs to showcase various activities and many more in the works.
I thank all the donors, volunteers, staff at Ekal for providing amazing support to the organization. This has allowed Ekal to become one of the most impactful organizations that is transforming the lives of villagers living in remote rural villages in meaningful ways.
As this time, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the new President of Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA, Mr. Suresh Iyer. Suresh Iyer is the Co-Founder and Chairman of Infospectrum a software products company based out of Southern California. He has been associated with Ekal for many years and has served in several capacities to support the organization. Most recently he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ekal . His passion and dedication to the organization is exemplar and I look forward to seeing Ekal grow under his leadership.
