Diwali is the most widely celebrated Indian festival around the world. It represents the triumph of good over evil, right over wrong, light over darkness. The Festival of Lights event has been organized by the Indian Regional & Cultural Center (IRCC) on a large scale since 2011, and held at the Broward County Convention Center. This year, the excitement will start at Noon, Saturday, October 19, at this magnificent venue.
The festival brings together over 80 vendors, offering rich and colorful Indian clothing, Henna Painting, Jewelry, a variety of Indian Cuisine, and much more.
The stage program includes local youth displaying their talents in classical singing and dancing, followed by 250-300 children dancing to various Bollywood songs. The highlight of the evening is “Diwali Dhamaka,” a Bhangra, Raas/Garba and Bollywood Fusion dance competition. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, M.D., Chief Medical Correspondent CNN, is CPA and Event Co-Chair for the festival. According to Gupta, “What seemed liked only a dream until a couple of years ago has finally become a reality.”
