The Hindu Jan Jagruti Samiti which had strongly objected to ‘Singham Returns’ stating that the film is showing Hindus in poor light and had demanded a ban on the film, have resolved their issue. The Samiti members and the filmmakers met on Saturday to discuss the issues the Samiti had with the film
‘Singham Returns’
According to a source, “The Samiti raised points against certain scenes in the film like Ajay Devgn’s dialogue to a Hindu sadhu that, ‘Yahan main investigation karne aaya hoon, tera do kawdi ka pravachan sunne nahi.’ And some scenes in the mosque where the actor who plays a police officer in the film is shown offering namaz and then saluting the mosque after walking of it. The Samiti felt that though they don’t have anything against Muslims but would not like to see Hindus being shown in poor light.”
The source added, “The filmmakers heard their side and have decided to delete a couple of dialogues and tone down the mosque scene. Also a disclaimer stating that the film has no intention to hurt any religious sentiments and community has been added.”
It may be noted here that the Samiti had also written to various cinema halls across the state and country asking them not to screen the film. The film has yet to get certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. The CBFC had received over 100 emails after the promo of the film was released objecting to scenes that allegedly were hurting Hindu sentiments.
The Samiti is likely to hold a press conference today to announce that the issue has been resolved.
