Udupi (Karnataka) : On 30th April, a show of play titled ‘Nagmandal’ written by actor Girish Karnad, was to be staged. Devotees, however, opposed due to the stand taken by Karnad earlier in support of cow-slaughter. The show had to be cancelled. (Congratulations to devotees who forced to cancel program arranged by anti-Hindus ! If all Hindus become so alert, nobody would dare to insult and criticizeHindu Dharma, their Holy Scriptures, Deities and Saints etc. or dare to commit sin of acting against Dharma ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
During a cultural program organized on the occasion of ‘Brahma-kalash’ by Narsinge Devasthan, a drama-group was to stage the show of play ‘Nagmandal’; but devotees visiting Narsinge Devasthan took a stance that play by a person like Karnad, who has supported consumption of beef, should not be staged in Devasthan. Devasthan Committee then suggested staging of another play. The drama-group, however, wanted to stage the same play after first expressing protest against Karnad. The Devasthan committee refused as the program was being held on behalf of Devasthan stating that religious principles were more important to them than cultural programs. The cultural programs are secondary. The Devasthan suggested to the drama-group to stage another play but the drama-group did not stage another play.
