The Shiv Sena on Monday slammed the Congress for holding the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi responsible for the killings of Muslims in Assam and accused it for promoting “infiltration” from Bangladesh to India.
“Those who are blaming Modi for the killings should check their own hands and they will find the blood of Hindus. Country has been divided by those who are blaming it on Modi. Those who survived on Muslim votes are now scared of him,” said an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamna.
Thirty-two people were killed, many others injured and thousands were rendered homeless in two districts of Assam after recent attacks by militants belonging to the anti-talks IK Songbijit faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S).
The Congress on Sunday had attacked the BJP and Mr. Modi for the violence in Assam, saying it was a result of “communal polarisation” done by them to garner votes.
Attacking the Congress leader Kapil Sibal, the editorial said that he had never taken up the cause of Hindus in Kashmir as he did for Bangladeshis in Assam. “If he wants the Hindu Bodos to run away from Assam, like the Pandits in Kashmir, then it is nothing but sedition,” it said.
“Sibal and Omar Abdullah (J&K Chief Minister) are afraid that after Modi comes to power, Bangladeshis will be driven out from Assam and Hindu Pandits will be brought back with honour in Kashmir,” the editorial said.
The editorial advised the Congress leaders to do vipassana (meditation) in Ramdev’s ashram. “Or else they will have to be admitted to a mental hospital after May 16 poll results as they have lost mental balance,” advised the Sena.
