SEWA International Caps Off Food Drive

17424BLOOMINGTON – A non-profit spent the day giving back in the Twin Cities.

A group of about 75 volunteers from SEWA international woke up early Saturday to deliver food to different charities across the area.

It’s the seventh straight year the group has done this to celebrate the beginning of Diwali, or the Hindu Festival of Lights. Group leaders say their goal is to get kids started on the project early, so they know the importance of giving.

“I see they’re the future of SEWA international, and the giving back to the community is very, very bright, especially for the Indian community’s perspective,” said Sudhir Pai, a volunteer for SEWA International.

The group started making its deliveries at Clare House. They will visit six other sites throughout this weekend and next.
