Imphal, May 18 2014 : Senior journalist Brahmacharimayum Biramangol Sharma, popularly known as BB Sharma was honoured with Devarshi Narda Journalist Award 2014 by Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Manipur here on Monday.
Devarshi Narda Journalist Award is one of the prestigious awards given to the State journalists every year in recognition of their outstanding contribution in the field of journalism.
Vishwa Samvad Kendra handed the Award to BB Sharma during a function at Manipur Press Club here.
It carries a citation and a shawl.
BB Sharma, a resident of Uripok Yambem Leikai in Imphal West, is presently working as News Consultant of AIR, Imphal besides working as a special correspondent of Asia Defence News International (ADNI), New Delhi.
Sharma is also a recipient of several journalist awards like Best Correspondent Award – 1995 given by Akashvani New Delhi, Regional News Unit Award 2005, Bold and Courageous Reporting Award-2006, Mediaman of the Year Award-2011 and Mediaman of the Year Award 2005 given by different organizations.
Senior journalist and former editor of Prajatantra, Kangujam Madhumangol and columnist Iboyaima Khuman jointly bagged the Award last year.
J Nandakumar, member of Akhil Bharatiya Saha Prachar Bamukh (Media) and Th Madhya, vice-president of Viswa Samvad Kendra, Manipur shared the dais during the award presentation function.
