Scholarships announced for Minority Hindus in Pakistan

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Minorities Affairs,Gyan Chand Essrani has announced 20 scholarships for students and dowries for 20 girls of the Hindu community.

This he announced while addressing as a chief guest at Diwali ceremony held at Arts Council of Pakistan here, said a statement on Wednesday.

He said that a large number of Hindu Community lived in Sindh and they were playing pivotal role for the socio – economic development of Pakistan.

It is right time that we get united to work harder to make Pakistan a strong country and to tell our adversaries that Pakistani nation is on one platform under national flag of Pakistan, he remarked.

The Provincial Minister said that Minorities Affairs Department had done a lot for minority communities including jobs to minority youths, security arrangements for holy buildings, expansion and renovation of places of worship and financial assistance to poor people.

Besides, dowry funds for girls, education scholarships for students and implementation on five percent quota in government jobs for minorities which have gone a long way to address problems faced by the community, he added.

On this occasion, a large number of Hindu young men were present and prayers were offered for the prosperity of the country.
