SOUTH AFRICA, November 27, 2015 (Phoenix Sun): The South African Hindu Maha Sabha will host the “Hinduism in the 21st Century: Unity in Diversity” conference from June 25 to 26, 2016. The conference, which aims to explore and reflect on the role and relevance of Hinduism in the last 155 years in South Africa, will be jointly hosted by the Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple (Tongaat) and The Shri Luxmi Narayan Temple (Mobeni Heights) in association with South African Hindu Maha Sabha, and will take place at the University Hindu Centre (Westville Campus of University of KwaZulu-Natal).
Some of the themes that will be covered at the conference include, among several others, Hinduism, nation-building and social cohesion, Hinduism and social justice, youth pressures and challenges, women empowerment, Hinduism beyond mythology, social media and Hindu propagation, and temples as a symbol of Hindu identity in South Africa.
