With an aim to impart its ideology among college-going youths, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will hold a three-day mega camp — ‘Yuva Sankalp Shivir’ — in Agra from Saturday which will be attended by nearly 5,500 youths from Braj region. The region includes Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Etah, Aligarh, Hathras, Mainpuri and Kasganj districts.

This is the third mega event of RSS held in a row in UP. A meet of RSS’s all-India working committee was held from October 17 to 19 in Lucknow. It was attended by Bhagwat, BJP president Amit Shah and other top RSS office-bearers.

ABVP had organised an all-India meet and workshop for its women members in Lucknow in September.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will be present at the camp on all three days and will address the students on ‘Role of youths in nation’s awakening’ in the concluding session that will be open for general public as well.

In other sessions, minister of state for external affairs and former Army chief V K Singh along with Anand Kumar, who runs Super 30 coaching institute for IIT aspirants in Bihar, will address the students in various closed-door sessions on November 2.

The youths attending the camp are expected to come dressed in the RSS’s traditional white shirt, khaki shorts and black caps. Participants have been exempted from wearing traditional belt and black socks.

Each participant has to pay Rs 150 to attend the camp for “food and stay facilities”. The participants will not be allowed to carry mobile phones, laptops and cameras inside the campus.

“The camp is aimed to make the youths aware of the RSS’ ideology and help them incorporate sentiments of patriotism and nationalism,” said Pramod Chauhan, RSS Sampark Pramukh of Agra.

Chauhan said nearly 7,000 students had shown interest but only 5,500, who have passed class 12th and are continuing studies, could be selected. These students will rise in career and they can make valuable contribution in ‘nation building’, he said.

The camp is being seen as significant for the RSS as the outfit had been so far holding training camps only for the students of class 10, 11 and 12. Other students had been associating themselves with RSS through its student wing, ABVP.

“The students attending the camp will be motivated towards social service. Anand Kumar of Super 30 will inspire the youths because he did not take admission in IIT and decided to help poor students in preparing for admission in IITs,” Chauhan said.

V K Singh will deliver lecture on internal security.

Singh will also felicitate the wife of deceased Army soldier Hemraj who was beheaded by Pakistani troops in Poonch in January last year. “Hemraj was a martyr and his sacrifice will be narrated by his wife.

Her felicitation will motivate the students to work for nation,” Chauhan said. Indian shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore will also be felicitated along with five other social activists.
