Robbery at Jain temple in Bangalore

A gang of unidentified persons robbed a Jain temple situated on Akkipet main road in Bangalore after attacking the security guards and damaging CCTV cameras in the early hours of Sunday.

They made away with valuables worth Rs. 25 lakh including donation box and other gold ornaments, police said.

The burglars gained entry by breaking open the backdoor of the temple and used chloroform to render the security guards unconscious before ransacking the temple premises and looting the valuables..

The burglars have also damaged the CCTV cameras before fleeing with the booty.

The incident came to light when few devotees visited the temple on Sunday morning and noticed the guards having fallen unconscious on the floor and valuables missing.

The Cottonpet police rushed to the spot and shifted the security guards to Victoria hospital where the guards are recuperating.

The police are continuing their investigation and looking for some leads after the recovery of the guards.
