CHENNAI: The Madras high court on Thursday declined to admit a petition filed by a Supreme Court advocate seeking a CBI probe into the June 18 murder of Hindu Munnani activist Suresh Kumar.
Advocate Krishnamurthy sought the court to issue a writ of mandamus directing the state DGP (law and order) to transfer the Kumar murder case from the inspector of police, Ambattur police station in Chennai to the CBI for proper, free, fair, impartial and effective investigation on the basis of newspaper reports published in prominent English dailies on June 21. He also asked the court to direct the state government to award a compensation of 10 lakh to the bereaved family.
The bench of acting Chief Justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice M M Sundresh said they are “not inclined to entertain the petition bereft of particulars.”
