Plans to convert Pennsylvania country club banquet site to Hindu temple

panewzzLower Saucon Township in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania (USA) reportedly might have a Hindu temple in the future.

According to reports, the banquet facility which is used to be Woodland Hills Country Club having an 18-hole golf course, might be converted into a Hindu temple if approved by the Township Council.

There is an agreement of sale for this 12-acre property but the plans are yet to be submitted for this proposed temple which would be next to 148-acres former golf course on a property bought by the Council in August for $1.7 million. Council reviewed Woodland Hills Subdivision Plan in its October one meeting.
Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA), commended efforts of the religious group involved in reshaping former banquet site to a Hindu temple complex.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this upcoming temple would help in this direction.

Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

Lower Saucon Township, incorporated in 1743, bordering Lehigh River, is known for its “pastoral farmlands, tranquil woodlands, and gently rolling hills”. Ron Horiszny, Tom Maxfield and Jack Cahalan are Council President, Council Vice President and Township Manager respectively.
