Lahore: Over 1,700 Sikhs from India arrived in Pakistan on Saturday to celebrate Baisakhi festival at the historic Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Punjab province’s Hasan Abdal town.
Officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee greeted the pilgrims when they arrived by two special trains at the Wagah railway station.
ETPB Chairman Saddiqul Farooq said over 1,700 Sikhs arrived from India and 100 pilgrims from other countries to take part in the three-day Baisakhi festival beginning at Gurdwara Panja Sahib from Sunday.
During their 10-day stay, the Sikh pilgrims would also visit other Gurdwaras in the province.
