Pujanio Swamiji,

Subject: Proper Utilisation Of Hindu Temples’ Donation Fund

We are before you with a prayer sent by an old-time friend of mine, Shri S S Rajput. Basically an electronic engineer, he runs his own business and is deeply involved in different kinds of socio-cultural activities. Currently, he happens to be the President, Bharat Kshatriya Samaj, based in Kolkata. A copy of his prayer is reproduced.

Sir,

We from Bharat Kshatriya Samaj Kolkata, appeal to you to kindly help in utilising properly the Hindu Temples Donations. All major Hindu Temples are controlled by Government through IAS Officers. Only 15% of the donations collected is given back to Temple administration for the maintenance and the rest goes to Government. But no Masjid or Church is managed by any Govrnment in India. Why? Apart from this question, we have a proposal to utilize our Hindu Temples money for two specific purposes:

1. Spend 50% of the balance 85% kept by the govt for the development of our Sanatan Sanskriti for example to open Sanskrit Universities in every state, post graduate college in each District head quarter and a Degree college in each sub division. One Sanskrit teacher in every school.

2. Remaining 50% of the 85% retained by the Government should be spent for the welfare of the families of our Armed forces and police etc particularly for widows and thier children.

3. The important Mosques and the Churches of India should also be brought under the control of the Govt and similarly the 50% of their collection should also be added for armed forces and police force welfare as the Muslims and the Christians are also to serve the country.

As there is demand from the armed forces or One Job One Pension (OROP) and Govt is not in a position to meet that demand due to shortage of funds. Our proposal will help that.

Sir, as you are in a position today to influence the Govt. kindly consider our appeal. This will create a history, if properly implemented.

Warm Regds.

S S RAJPUT

As it will be seen, the above prayer has three specific components. Accepting that 15 percent of the donations collected is given back to the temple administration for the maintenance purpose, the rest of the fund can be most fruitfully utilised for:

Shri Rajput also suggests:

As there is demand from the armed forces for One Job One Pension (OROP) and Govt is not in a position to meet that demand due to shortage of funds. Our proposal will help that.

Pujanio Swamiji, as the Hindu Acharya Mahasabha has dealt with temple funds, we felt we could submit the case to you for whatever is felt best at your end.

Yours sincerely,
