KATHMANDU, Aug 4:Visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has performed special pooja and prayed for lord Shiva at famous Hindu shrine Pashupatinath temple in capital on Monday.
Minister for Culture and Civil Aviation Bhim Acharya and Pashupati Area Development Trust(PADT) Member Secretary Govinda Tandan received PM Modi at the temple at 9.15 am on Monday.
During 50 minutes worshiping ceremony, , Indian PM participated in a special Vedic rituals facilitated by the chief priest of the temple Ganesh Bhatta and offered 2,500 kg of white Indian sandalwood to the Pashupatinath temple.
Monday in the month of Shrawan is considered to be auspicious for the worship of lord Shiva as per Hindu calendar. Modi,who was in traditional yellow attire believed to be holy dress by Hindus, was presented image of lord Shiva by the PADT after the pooja.
Modi is scheduled to meet President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and political party leaders before he starts for home Monday evening.
