At least 10 people from the Hindu community have been injured as unidentified miscreants attacked a Hindu locality. The attack took place during a clash between the supporters of the Awami League and the Jamaat in Kolarao Upazila in the district on Sunday.

Witnesses said unidentified miscreants suddenly swooped on the Hindu locality, vandalised 15 houses and injured 10 people of the community in the afternoon, immediately after a clash between the activists of the Awami League and the Jamaat.

Regarding the attack, local UP Chairman Abul Kalam said: “Some miscreants have vandalised the houses and injured people in the Hindu community. But, we are not sure about the identities of the criminals.”

On the other hand, the ruling party candidate Feroz Ahmed alleged that Jamat supporters were responsible for the malice.

Officer-in-Charge of Kolaroa police station Munshi Mofazzol Hossin said: “Primarily we suspect that the attack was carried out by Jamaat members. We are investigating the matter to be sure about the identities of the vandals.”
