Maha Shivaratri at Singapore Ramakrishna Mission

The Maha Shivaratri was celebrated at our Temple on Wednesday, 14 February 2018 in all solemnity. Shiva Puja was performed by Swami Kripatmananda. Shiva Mahimna Stotram and a few bhajans were led by Swami Satyalokananda. Shiva-nama-sankirtanam was recited during the Shiva Arati. Earlier Rudram and Chamakam from the Vedas were also chanted.
Swami Vimokshananda, the President gave a short Talk on “Swamiji as Shiva”. He narrated some incidents from the Life of Swami Vivekananda and how they were intimately related to Lord Mahadeva. He focussed on two mystical experiences of Swami Shivananda who was a brother disciple of Swamiji and Sarat Chandra Chakraborty, a disciple of Swamiji.
After the prayers, as the assembled devotees chanted the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, one by one, the devotees did the abhishekam for the Shiva Lingam by pouring sacred water and milk and offered flowers and Vilva leaves. Prasad was duly distributed. Earlier on 13 Feb night, the monks visited Singapore Sivan Temple where the Mission put up a Book Stall.
