Mah Tells Penang Hindu Endowment Board, “Give Me A Chance”

PIC: The Malay MailPUTRAJAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mah Siew Keong said he would work together with the Penang Hindu Endowment Board chairman ‎P. Ramasamy.

Despite the criticisms that have been dished out by the chairman, questioning Mah’s appointment in overlooking the portfolio, the Gerakan president said he would work closely with Ramasamy and the whole board.

Mah said: “Give me a chance. I am appointed to overlook and supervise the portfolio. I will be answering at the Parliament on the annual accounts and report of the board.”

He reiterated that his role is to oversee the board and to ensure that everything is done in proper manner.

The Hindu Endowment Board administers endowments such as land, property and burial grounds or funds given for the benefit of the Hindu community.

It was recently reported that Ramasamy had called Mah’s new role as an “insult to Hindus” and further questioned why an Indian was not appointed to look after the portfolio.

He also ‎questioned on what hope was there for the Teluk Intan MP to perform when former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department P. Waythamoorthy, who was familiar with the Indian community had to vacate his post.
