SILCHAR, June 29 – Reacting strongly against the ongoing spate of atrocities and killing of Hindu writers and intellectuals and even monks in Bangladesh, BJP’s lone Muslim MLA in the State, Aminul Haque Laskar condemned the incidents calling for a widespread protest.
“India is the safest country for Muslims and we want the Hindus who are minorities in Bangladesh should be safe and live in peaceful condition. The secular politicians and parties from not only Barak and Brahmaputra valleys but also from across India must step up to protest the atrocities meted out to the Hindus in the neighbouring country. There should be a protest against the killings,” Aminul said adding that such protest will send a strong message to the global fraternity.
Asked about the stance of the Union Government on the issue, Laskar claimed that the Centre has thoroughly criticized the occurrences as a result of which security measures have been intensified at Ramakrishna Mission in Dhaka. “Neither Central nor the State Government is sitting silent on the issue. But the secular politicians together with the common people must raise their voice against the killing of Hindu’s in Bangladesh,” Laskar maintained.
