Anil Ponnuswamy | HENB | Bengaluru | Nov 7, 2015:: The RSS on Friday lambasted on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over his beef eating remark, which it claimed to have hurt the sentiments of the majority Hindus.

It also said that people talking about rising ‘communal intolerance’ are themselves the intolerant intellectuals who have enjoyed the patronage of a party for the past 65 years. Without naming anybody RSS criticized the Congress-Communist combine for grabbing all the Govt and other literary, art and cultural,  educational and scientific and historical research organisation,  who never cared for the mainstream values and Indian culture and heritage in its true sense.

In Vishwa Samvada Kendra (VSK) Press Center in Bengaluru, Shri V Nagaraj, who heads the RSS Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana units, said, “Stray incidents of intolerance were always there, but now they are being tactfully highlighted to target the NDA government.” He addressed a press meet here on Friday to brief about the three-day RSS national annual meet ‘Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal Bhaithak’ (ABKM) that concluded in Ranchi recently.

The RSS leader also condemned the euphoria surrounding Tipu Jayanti celebrations in the state and said Tipu Sultan was a tyrant who openly carried the message on his sword about killing ‘kafirs’ (non-believers) which is well documented in history. Tipu was the most intolerant kings of all time, he added.

Referring to the beef controversy in Karnataka, the 66-year-old Kshetriya Sanghachalak for the RSS said chief minister Siddaramaiah showed himself to be “insensitive” to the feelings of many people by declaring that he will eat beef. “As CM, he should have been more careful and not hurt the majority with his comments. Whether he eats beef or not is his personal choice but he should not have spoken about it in the open. We condemn his statements,” Nagaraj said.

Meanwhile, sources in the BJP said the party is planning to file an FIR against the CM over the beef remarks next week in Bengaluru. Party sources said if the FIR is not accepted by the police, it will knock on the doors of the courts.

The regional head of the RSS, said the organization is always ready to go for a dialogue with Muslims and Christians in coastal Karnataka to end communal flare-ups and tensions in the districts. Nagaraj said the RSS has never had any role in inciting communal tension in the coastal region. “But as an organisation, we are ready to bring ourselves along with other like-minded Hindu groups to the table for discussions to end communal tension in the region,” he said. Explaining the genesis of flare-ups and defending like-minded organizations in Udupi, Mangaluru and Uttara Kannada, Nagaraj said there has always been a reactionary move by people from the majority community, for every action by the minority community. Hurting majority sentiment for appeasing the minority community is a mal-practice of the continuing politics in India. In the last two years things are being changed rapidly.
