Islamists attack on slain Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader’s son in UP

LUCKNOW: Son of late Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader from Tanda area of Ambedkar Nagar was ‘attacked’ with sharp-edged weapons by unidentified assailants late on Friday in Gomtinagar area. Doctors, however, said no serious injuries had been found on his person. A student of Intermediate, Shubham Gupta was heading towards his rented room located in Shakti Nagar area in Indiranagar when four persons on two bikes intercepted him near a prominent mall located near the Polytechnic crossing.

Gupta is undergoing treatment at KGMU. His uncle Ved Prakash lodged a first information report at Vibhuti Khand police station on Saturday under attempt to murder charges. Senior superintendent of police and district magistrate visited the 17-year-old at the hospital.Gupta’s father Ram Babu Gupta and cousin brother Ram Mohan Gupta had been killed in Tanda area last year following allegedly a dispute with a sitting Samajwadi Party MLA from Tanda. Prakash pointed fingers at Azim ul Haq alias Pehalwan and three others.

In March last year, Gupta’s father was sprayed with bullets while in December his brother, akey witness of his father’s murder, was also shot dead in Tanda area. The Guptas ownmedicine stores in the district.
