Nagpur (Maharashtra) : False cases have been filed against innocent followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as they displayed pictures of Afzal Khan’s slaying at the hands of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the day of ‘Shiva-pratap Din’, at Nagar.

Inquiry should be conducted into this incident; taking action against the concerned police who have filed such false cases; false cases against innocent followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj should be withdrawn and a policy decision should be taken that there was no need for obtaining permission for displaying historical bravery exhibited in Afzal Khan’s slaying.

Cases filed against 5 pro-Hindu activists including Shri. Digambar Gentyal, the District-President of Hindu Rashtra Sena should be withdrawn as they were in no way connected to the issue, are the demands made by Shri. Narendra Pawar, BJP’s MLA and other pro-Hindu organizations through a representation submitted to Shri. Ram Shinde, Home (State) Minister (Rural).

Shri. Shinde said that the issue was related to his district; so he would personally look into the matter. It is inappropriate to take unnecessary action against followers of Chhatrapati Shivaraya by tearing the banners depicting picture of Afzal Khan’s slaying and forcing them to cancel puja. This issue would be examined and police officers, if found guilty, would be severely punished, was the assurance given by Shri. Shinde. A delegation of pro-Hindu organizations led by Shri. Narendra Pawar
submitted a representation to Shri. Ram Shinde in the presence of Shri. Upendra Dahake, the city-President of BJP for Thane, party-activists, Shri. Sunil Ghanavat and Shri. Arvind Pansare, office bearers of HJS.
