=================================

A 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal & Indo-Nepal border regions on April 25th, 2015. Death toll risen to 3,862 & 7,119 injured and 6+ million are severely affected. Reports of devastation are still coming in & numbers killed, injured & affected by quake continue to rise.

Earthquake resulted in wide spread damages to houses, hospitals, schools, roads and infrastructures. 30 of 75 dists affected incl rural areas and two densely populated cities—Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Earthquake was also felt in many parts of India. After the second earthquake of magnitude 6.7 on Sunday, toll in India has reached 72 with 56 deaths reported in Bihar and 12 in UP, 3 in WB, 1 in Rajasthan. 170 injured in India in districts bordering Nepal.

Those who survived have a long road ahead. After-effects of this staggering tragedy will be felt for years. A lack of electricity would soon be complicated by a scarcity of water, with medical supplies also dwindling. The next big challenge will be the supply of food. UNICEF reported 1 million children across Nepal were in “urgent” need of humanitarian assistance. Humanitarian workers say medical supplies are reported to be scarce at the overcrowded hospitals in Kathmandu. Doctors are appealing for help.

IDRF is doing its part to quickly develop a sustainable rehabilitation program in cooperation with reliable local partner NGOs. To address the needs of these people at this critical stage, we ask your support. You can give hope to the survivors.IDRF has 25+ years of experience in serving towards disaster rehabilitation and relief work, ensuring an effective utilization of you hard earned money.

I urge you to make a generous contribution towards IDRF’s Nepal earthquake rehabilitation program, to help the victims move forward. All donations are tax-deductible in the US
