Andrabi unfurls Pak flag in Valley 24 Mar 2015, Hindustan Times (Delhi), Peerzada Ashiq peer.mushtaq@hindustantimes.com ZoomBookmarkSharePrintListenTranslate

SRINAGAR: Separatist Asiya Andrabi’s hardline g roup Dukhtaran- e- Millat ( DeM) unfurled the Pakistani national flag in the Valley on Monday to mark Pakistan Day. Her supporters also organised functions where Pakistan’s national anthem was sung. The function organised in Srinagar by the DeM — an allwomen separatist group — saw the recitation of Quranic verses, unfurling of the Pakistan flag and the singing of the national anthem. “We revisited and put in context the resolutions passed in 1956 (following the promulgation of first set of the Constitution of Pakistan) to our supporters today,” Andrabi told HT. “We also talked to our supporters about how India occupied Kashmir through force.” The DeM organised similar functions in its district headquarters at several other undisclosed locations. However, there was no move to publicly unfurl Pakistan’s flag — as they have attempted in the past — due to the heightened security presence in the Valley. Andrabi’s husband Muhammad Qasim Faktoo, awarded a life sentence for his role in the murder of rights activist lawyer HN Wanchoo in 1992, released a book from jail titled ‘Pakistan: Naguzeer Tha,’ on Monday. “The book is an abridged edition of Syed Hussain Riyaz’s book with a preface by Qasim sahib. It’s important to revisit Riyaz’s (who was Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s adviser before Partition) apprehensions on how Muslims are unsafe in Hindu India. We all need to read it,” said Andrabi. Manyabarji, we the people of India will like to know what action has been taken or being contemplated against this separatist leader Asiya Andrabi of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, who had the audacity to unfurl Pakistani flag in the valley on March 23, 2015?

Sir, your party also being a part of the government, we remain keen on knowing about the action taken in the matter.

Respectfully yours,

D.C. Nath
