Hindus from the Richmond area will gather at The Richmond Temple of the Hindu Center of Virginia on New Year’s Day to receive special blessings and prayers. Temple priests will offer personal prayers known as “Archana” in which the name, birth star and family lineage of a devotee are recited to invoke individual guidance and blessings.
Prayers will also be offered by chanting the name of a Deity, which is a central part of every ritual Hindu prayer or to spiritually celebrate an event such as the beginning of the new year.
