CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Courting another controversy, notorious Sirsa based cultist Gurmeet Ram Rahim has angered members of the Hindu community by wearing attire resembling god Vishnu.
It may be recalled that in May 2007, the controversial public showman hurt the sentiments of Sikhs by attempting to emulate the dress of Guru Gobind Singh.
The video has gone viral on social media, wihin which he is dancing in a manner resembling Vishnu. Taking serious note of the ‘performance’, various Hindu organizations deeply condemned the cultist and demanded rigid action against him.
On Monday, led by Pancha Nand Giri, a delegation of Hindu organizations called on Punjab DGP Suresh Arora to hand over a memorandum against the cultist.
They said that a formal complaint had been lodged in Zirakpur Police station but no case has been registered against him so far.
Notably, both Sikh and Hindu leaders are alleging that the government is giving shelter to Gurmeet. “Police take strong action against comedian Kiku Sharda for mimicking Gurmeet but when the latter does so, hurting religious sentiments of whole commmunities, no action is taken against him”, they said.
