Bhatkal: The Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri was celebrated with zeal and religious fervour across Bhatkal on Monday, March 7. Devotees of all age groups thronged Lord Shiva temples in various parts of the state to participate in special poojas and offered worship.
Major Shiva temples, including Murdeshwar temple in Murdeshwar, Choleshwara temple in Bhatkal, Mahabaleshwara temple in Gokarna, Gunwantheswara in Honnavar and many other witnessed heavy rush from early morning. Devotees formed serpentine queues for the darshan.
The temple is reverberating with various religious hymns.
All the roads in the temple town were packed with the pilgrims occupying each and every inch of land space available.
