A 25-year-old Hindu woman was kidnapped by unidentified persons in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, her relatives said.

Sapna Rani, a teacher, was reportedly abducted on Saturday afternoon while on her way home from the school where she worked.

Police officials said they had launched an investigation but claimed she had eloped. Her brother-in-law, however, insisted she had been kidnapped.

Faqir Chand, the father of the woman, said his daughter was a teacher at Peshawar Science Academy on G T Road. He told the media that she went to work at 7.45 am on Saturday and the family began to worry when she did not return till 4 pm. After failing to trace Sapna, her relatives informed the police.

Bindya Rani, the woman’s mother, told the media: “We don’t have an enmity with anyone.” She asked the Government to do everything to find her daughter.
