MAPUSA: Hindu organizations in Goa will organize a workshop for temple committees and priests at Mapusa with an intention of transforming all temples of Bardez into centres of imparting education about dharma and to unite all the committees in order to solve problems related to temples.
This is a first of its kind exercise in Goa beginning from Bardez and will be held in other talukas of the state.
The organizers said that followers of other faiths spread their religion through their places of worship and it was necessary for Hindu temples to spread religious knowledge through temples which is presently lacking.
The workshop which will be held at Sateri hall in Khorlim in Mapusa on April 27 is organized jointly by Gomantak Mandir and Dhaarmik Sanstha Mahasangh, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other Hindu organizations.
Speaking on behalf of the organizers Narayan Rathwad said that “temples are not meant merely for worship and for performing ritualistic worship, they are the centres of spreading dharmashikshan (knowledge of religion), followers of other faiths get dharmashikshan from their places of worship, hence Hindus should get dharmashikshan through temples.”
Important issue like acts to be avoided at temples, the role to be played by priests, problems faced by temples, efforts to be put in to provide security to temples, how to protect the sanctity of temples, are going to be discussed at the workshop. There are about 200 temples in Bardez taluka. Organizers claimed that there was tremendous response from temples committees for the workshop.
