THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala unit of Hindu Aikya Vedi has decided to launch agitation against the Congress led UDF government’s ‘anti-Hindu stand’, Aikya Vedi General Secretary Kumannam Rajasekheran said.
State government had so far ignored the charter of demands submitted to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy way back in 2012 and ‘we will start direct agitation’, Rajasekheran told PTI on the side lines of a four day remonstration by Vedi activists in front of the state secretariate here today.
Government should come forward to hold talks with the Vedi to redress the grievances, he said adding the Hindu community has been ignored by the government at all fronts.
“The remonstration is a personification of the people’s voice against the anti-Hindu stance taken by the government and breach of promises”, he said.
He said as a prelude to this agitation, padayatras to protect conservation of Hindu Rights were held in all panchayats of the state last month.
Legally ban religious conversions, hand over investigations to NIA cases connected with fundamentalists in the state and death of recent ‘Love Jihad’ girl victim, ensure the welfare of forward community were some of the 169 demands put by the Vedi before the government.
