Miscreants attacked a temple in Baraigram upazila of Natore and desecrated Hindu idols last night, weeks ahead of the Durga Puja.
The incident took place at Jorai Durga Temple located in Joraigram area. The locals informed police after the incident this morning, our Natore correspondent reports.
The idols of Durga, Ganesh and Kartik were desecrated, said Chittoronjon Saha, the Natore unit president of Puja Udjapon Committee.
“The miscreants attacked sometime around midnight on Thursday. This is an usual incident ahead of the Durga Puja. Every year miscreants damage some idols in Natore,” Saha said.
“Last year, they desecrated idols in Chondrokola and Kakolia areas. This non-stop attacks on Hindu temples have become a threat to our community,” he added.
Bashudeb Banik, superintendent of police in Natore, told the correspondent that police had visited the crime scene in the morning.
