Written Question to the European Commission on Abduction of Hindu Girls in Pakistan

We successfully worked with the World Sindhi Congress to get a written question to the European Commission (Vice-President and High Representative); http://hinduforum.eu/european-parliament-working-group-addresses-the-abduction-of-pakistani-hindu-girls-with-the-prompting-of-hfe-and-wsc The answer will take approximately 6 weeks, and should arrive by March. Please keep an eye on the facebook page or website for updates.

Hindu Forum of Belgium appoints an Executive Director, Bharti Tailor.

Bharti will be sharing her time in Brussels between the Hindu Forum of Europe and the Hindu Forum of Belgium.

Developments in Europe

In Germany

The Hindu Forum of Germany which started the process of forming an umbrella some six month ago is progressing well and you can see their facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hindu-Forum-of-Germany/729623593764697 Anupama Braroo who is taking the initiative forward attended the recent conference in Delhi and you will see her posts on the facebook page.

 

France

A new initiative

Federation Vedique de France is yet another attempt to set up an umbrella for this country which has a population of some 500,000 Hindus in the country and it territories. Shown here with the members who attended the founding meeting on 15 December.  Swami Veetamohan das was appointed President (1 row left). And Ekta Bouderliqe was appointed Secretary (top of photo).

ECRL Moves to UK

The European Council of Religious Leaders which till now was based on Oslo Norway has now moved to UK, the new Secretary is Jehangir Sarosh OBE.

  1. OSCE ODIHR Guidelines on the Legal Personality of Religious or Belief Communities Launch (04.02.2015) – Deadline to register for EP access badges (28/01/2015)

On 4th February 2015 Dennis de Jong MEP, in cooperation with the newly established Intergroup on Freedom of Religion or Belief and Religious Tolerance will be hosting an event to launch the OSCE ODIHR Guidelines on the Legal Personality of Religious or Belief Communities in the European Parliament from 12:30 in Library Reading Room ASP05D .  Please find the event poster and agenda attached.

Ursula King is Professor Emerita of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Bristol. She has lectured in many countries and has published on such subjects as religion & gender, interfaith dialogue, modern Hinduism, Christian mystics, and the French scientist and theologian Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
