Denigration of Hindu Deities and great national leaders will not take place through plays ! – Assurance by President, State Censor Board for Drama
Mumbai : Prof. Ram Jadhav, the President of State Censor Board for Drama gave a promise to delegation of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) that denigration of Hindu Deities and great national leaders would not take place through dramas. The delegation comprising of Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, HJS Coordinator, Dr. Uday Dhuri, Mumbai spokesperson of HJS and Shri. Prasad Mankar, an activist recently called on Prof. Jadhav and congratulated him for being elected as the President. Representation was submitted to him for prevention of denigration and vulgarity through dramas. Discussions were also held in detail.
‘HJS has so far submitted several such representations to State Censor Board for Drama and Government agencies but no action has been taken. As a result, few Hindu youth are expressing strong displeasure over such plays; therefore, at least, you take a note of this and do not grant permission to plays that hurt religious sentiments,’ was a request made by the delegation.
Prof. Jadhav was shown papers related to various agitations undertaken , in lawful manner, by HJS against M F Husain’s painting of nude Hindu Deities, plays like ‘Vastraharan’, ‘Yada Kadachit’, ‘Hari Aalaa Daari’, ‘Gadhavaa ch Lagna’, ‘Aamach Sagala Saat Majali’, ‘Arey, Ganapati Bappa Morya’, ‘Bighadale Swargache Daar’, ‘Aamhi Paachpute’, ‘Tharaarali Vaat’, ‘Ali J’ etc. Shri. Lalitkumar Shah, a member of the Board, who had issued certificate to an anti-national play like ‘J Ali’ glorifying Jinnah, was present during the discussions. He was given complaints and proofs received against the said play demanding cancellation of certificate for staging shows.
