Happy Janmashtami!
On behalf of the over 1.5 million children who study in Ekal schools, we thank you for your support! As we celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, we are reminded of His divinity that was visible in the child Krishna. Perhaps it is a symbolic way for us to understand that each child is divine whose potential can be realized through education.
Ekal wants to salute the many youngsters all over the US who have worked hard to support Ekal. From fundraising to working in Ekal Villages youngsters are making a difference. Thank you ! We will feature their stories in upcoming issues.
Ekal Wins Harvard MUN Impact Contest
Thanks to all the support from all of you Ekal Vidyalaya won the Harvard MUN Contest. Here is the video on Ekal created by an Ekal young volunteer, Shyam Sriram.
Shyam was born in the US and was actively involved in the New England Chapter of Ekal during his elementary and middle school. He moved with his family to India and continued to support Ekal. He went to an Ekal village to take this video and submitted it for the Harvard contest. Being an excellent Piano player he provided the background music for the video himself. “There were some floods in that village and we had to wade through waist deep water to gett to the village. It made me realize the hardship the villagers faced”.
We congratulate Shyam and thank him for bringing visibility to Ekal.
