Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Hindu’s Sindhu Center Expansion

Norwalk, Calif. — The groundbreaking ceremony of the expansion of the Sindhu Center was held June 28 with a Bhoomi Puja performed by Pandit Vinod Dave in the presence of H.H. Swami Devparkashji Maharaj.

The program was attended by prominent members of the Sindhi community, including Kumar Bhavnani, Harry Wadhwani, Sunil Tolani and Dr. Hiro Badlani.

The groundbreaking was initiated by Kishan Hingorani and coconut-breaking was performed by Tolani. This was followed by Pravachan and Kirtan by Swami Devparkashji.

The Sindhu Center is the only Sindhi temple on the West Coast and therefore holds great importance for the Southern California Sindhi community. Along with celebrations of the major Hindu festivals, Sindhi classes, yoga and other activities are also held at the temple.

Once the construction is complete, the temple will have a larger seating capacity and more parking space. It is also available to other Hindu communities for hire for their religious functions and cultural activities.
