A video of a man being tortured by Muslim men in Azamgarh is going viral. What is the real story?

Yes, the accused were a bunch of Muslim men. But it had nothing to do with Prime Minister Modi or politics. What It definitely was is a case of mob justice but the victim was accused of mobile theft.
A video showing a man, now identified as Shiv Kumar Verma, being tortured by two other men went viral on social media. It is being claimed that the man, a Hindu, was tortured by a bunch of Muslim men for objecting to them abusing Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath and Hindus.
The video is real, their claim is not.
The man was brought to ‘justice’ by the mob for theft.

It is no way right to torture someone else in an effort to bring justice when law and order bodies already exist in the country. The video doing rounds on social media is being given a communal angle and this could prove a threat to communally charged state of Uttar Pradesh.
UP Police tweeted stating that the accused men have been booked under Section 147, 148 which deal with rioting. The men have also been booked under sections that will persecute anyone present while the man was being abused and sections pertaining to sedition have also been evoked.
The UP Police was responding to cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh’s tweet sharing an Aaj Tak video report. RP Singh said what translated to, “This video is horrific. Hope UP government and UP Police will take stringent actions.”
