Ayodhya, April 18 (ANI): Devout Hindus thronged temples on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman and enthusiastically participated in the festivities. Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with religious fervour at the birthplace of Lord Rama, Ayodhya, to mark the day since lord Hanuman was an ardent devotee of Lord Rama. Devotees offered prayers and chanted hymns in praise of Lord Hanuman and offered flowers and sweets at the temple. The priests said that the festival is celebrated every year on the occasion of Chaitra Poornima, observed on the full moon day in the month of Chaitra. Lord Hanuman is a symbol of strength and power. He is also believed to help devotees get rid of evil influences. Hanuman is worshipped for his undying loyalty to Lord King Rama and his consort, Sita.
