Jahangir, owner of Al-Amin Cyber Point and Studio located in Haripur area of the upazila, was arrested from Naukaghat area in the district town around 12:30am, says Brahmanbarai Additional SP Md Ekbal Hossain.
Later in the afternoon, a Brahmanbaria court granted four-day remand for Jahnagir, officer-in-charge of Brahbanbaria Detective Branch Mafiz Uddin Bhuiyan told the Dhaka Tribune.
Brahmanbaria court Inspector Mahbubur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Shafiqul Islam granted the remand.
Mahbubur also said a total of 95 persons including Jahangir have been arrested thus far in this connection.
Police suspect that the controversial morphed image, which sparked the October 30 violence, was uploaded from the cybercafé using the Facebook ID of local fisherman Rasraj Das, and that the computer used for the offence was removed to hide the evidence. Police have been trying to recover it.
Mafiz said a desktop computer that was owned by Jahangir and was being used in a different business outlet after the incident, was also seized as evidence. The computer will be sent to CID for forensic analysis, he added.
Two truckers, who gave confessional statements to the court, said Jahangir was among the people who rented their vehicles to bring in the attackers.
Meanwhile, police are consulting with experts to determine whether any form of state-of-the-art technology was used to upload the controversial image by not directly hacking Rasraj Das’ Facebook profile, Mafiz said.
