Kathmandu : Shri. Shriniwas Acharya, a devout Hindu has undertaken hunger strike from March 2014 at Ratnapark in Kathmandu for the demand that Nepal be again declared as a Hindu Rashtra. 64 pro-Hindu organizations from Nepal took out a huge protest march on 18th May in his support.
Roads were also blocked as part of the agitations. About 500 Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists took part in the march. Nepal was a Hindu Rashtra earlier but on 18th May 2006, the then temporary Parliament had declared its status and declared it as a secular country. All these organizations therefore, observed this day as ‘black day’.
