According to ashram member Sidhartha, the seer had decided to conduct the event during his visit to Dallas in United States last year to inaugurate three temples and a prayer hall. “When he was in Dallas, the seer saw some children reciting slokas from Bhagavad Gita. He asked them to learn all slokas in a year, to be performed at this event,” he said.
He added that the swami has promised the children that he would take them to Kurukshetra in Haryana, where Lord Krishna delivered Gita to Arjuna.
The children arrived in the city with their parents and stayed at the ashram. They will leave for Kurushetra on Monday, and the children will recite the 700 slokas there, near Brahmasarovara on December 28. The slokas were taught to the children by Srikanth and Vishwaja through web streaming and Skype calling.
Niyati Jaya Cheruvu, studying in 10 grade in Texas, said she has been practicing Gita from the past one year.
