AMRITSAR: The recent four cases of abduction of Hindu girls in Sindh, Pakistan and attack on two Hindu temples have spread fears among the minority Hindu community of Pakistan that has demanded from its government to take necessary measures to restore sense of security among them.
President, Pakistan Hindu Seva Welfare Trust (PHSWT) , Sanjesh Kumar Dhanja told TOI over phone form Karachi on Wednesday “There have been four recent cases of abductions in Sindh and two attacks on temples in Mirpur Khas. All the girls were minor and three of them were from upper Singh and one from Nabisar, Kunri , part of lower Sindh” he said.
Hindu advocate Harnam Das Kohili informed that the abduction of 12 year old girl Kajal Bheel from her house in Sindh on October 21 st 2014 had shocked the community .. The girl was forcibly converted and married to Muslim.
He said parent of Kajal had demanded from court to send their daughter to a shelter home and give exemplary punishment to her abductors. K olhi who is working on the case said that there had been several court hearings and every time a new hearing date was given .”This is also injustice which must stop and government must give immediate relief to minorities in Pakistan” he said.
Dhanja however declined to reply on migration of Hindu families from Pakistan for obvious reasons.
Research associate of Trust Ravi Chohan said “Many minor girls in Sindh are abducted and are forced to convert to Islam; most of the cases remains unreported and even the families are reluctant to tell due to social obligations besides improper representation of minority issues in Pakistan”.
Dhanja complained that as par law five percent quota of jobs was earmarked for minority communities but in majority of cases the jobs were not given to them but to majority community . “This has caused further depression among our youth which the Pak government has to understand” he said.
