Ahbay Rinpoche will discuss how to eliminate the negative mind of anger and hatred in a public talk entitled “A Peaceful Mind.” Buddhism teaches that all suffering arises from negative states of mind.
The talk is sponsored by the S.C. Dharma Group, a Columbia-area organization whose members study and practice Tibetan Buddhism.
Ahbay Rinpoche, a native of Darjeeling, India, has been a monk since age 9, the S.C. Dharma Group writes. He has been recognized by the Dalai Lama as a reincarnation of the hermit Lama Lobsang Tenzin and has extensively studied four of the five major Buddhist texts. He also has taught throughout Europe and the United States.
The talk is free, but the S.C. Dharma Group accepts donations through its website,www.scdharma.org.
“A Peaceful Mind” will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Seibels House, 1601 Richland St.
Ahbay Rinpoche also teaches at 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Dharma Center, behind the house at 3003 Columbia Ave. He leads meditation at 10 a.m. Sundays at the Dharma Center.
