Paras (Parasram)Ramoutar is an international journalist for over 45 years, who writes for several media houses in Trinidad and Tobago,IANS (Indian Asian News Service), theindiandiaspora, India Empire, (all in India)Canada, USA, the Caribbean, among other countries. MrRamoutar is a respected commentator on issues of public affairs, social, cultural and religious issues with special focus on the Indian Diaspora.

He also has professional accreditation in Public Relations/Communications/Community/ Corporate Relations and, holds national executive positions in a network of community, religious and social organizations; and was Local Government representative at the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation for ten years. He is a Justice of the Peace for Trinidad and Tobago, and has received several community, nationaland international awards, including the Humming Bird Medal from the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Peace Award from the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago, the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow., among 35 others. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Ryerson University,where he studied on aRotary International Fellowship, Canada; and Accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators, among several other academic certificates.

Mr. Ramoutar is the great-grandson of an Indian indentured labourer, among approximately 146,000 East Indians who were brought to Trinidad and Tobago between 1845 and 1917, to arrest and enhance the decaying agricultural capacity in the then British colony.
Mr. Ramoutar’s great-grand parents were brought from the state of Haryana in the district of Shabanbad which is about 150 kms north of New Delhi. His forefathers came from the village of Kawpura, and the nearestthana was Dhansai.
Mr. Ramoutar’s great/grand parents worked at the Esperanza Estate, Central Trinidad, and later became landowners and businessmen, settled in thenearbyCaparo community, where he still resides after studies in Canada.. He is married to Utrah (nee Rajpaulsingh) and father of Shane and Shanna, and grandfather of Brandon and Naveen.
