JAIPUR: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday said there was a need to revive in every heart Hindu culture and values, claiming that because of the “weakness” of Hindu Samaj some people who have no understanding of “our society and culture” are moving forward in the country.
“Because of the weakness of Hindu Samaj, such people are moving forward in the country who have no understanding of our society and culture,” Bhagwat said at a Sant Samagam convention here.
Stating that there was a need to revive Hindu culture and values in every heart, he appealed to the sants to help the society come out of the state of self-forgetfulness and low self-esteem.
“In our country there is a tradition of believing sants’ preachings as truth. Sants with their ‘tapsya’ (austere devotion) used to unite Hindu Samaj and create awakening,” the RSS Chief said, adding “for social awakening whatever the sant samaj does any work that always bring very positive results.”
Bhagwat had stoked a controversy on Monday by stating that conversion to Christianity was the main objective behind Mother Teresa’s service to the poor.
“Mother Teresa’s service would have been good. But it used to have one objective, to convert the person, who was being served, into a Christian,” he said at an event in Bharatpur.
